Ike wants to write a story and not just a good one but an incredible story. But when it is time to start writing, nothing comes to mind. So he procrastinates by chatting with his best friend and doing some cleaning. Ike then decides that the problem is he does not have the right ink. So he gathers ingredients he needs including a shadow, Booga bird feathers, and something from the dark side of the moon (he makes a rocket ship to get there). Ike sits down with his precious ink and writes an incredible story of the experiences which have contributed to this magic moment of a story unveiled.

This is illustrator and designer Brianne Farley's debut picture book, and it offers boys and girls a clever and authentic glimpse of some of the challenges, obstacles, and rewards of the creativity. The author accurately captures the initial terrors of facing a blank page of paper and giving in to distractions. Farley also conveys the surprises that can come when a writer puts imagination and experience together in a room. Ike's Incredible Ink has been designed for children from 4 through 8.
