• The U.S. Government defines sex trafficking as an event where commercial sex is induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such acts has not attained 18 year of age.

• Sex trafficking in America is a $3 billion dollar a year business involving more than 100,000 children and countless thousands of adults.

• The average life expectancy of a child after being in prostitution is seven years.

• One third of teens living on the street will be lured toward prostitution within 48 hours of leaving home.

This hard-hitting documentary is about the plight of young women between the ages of 11 and 18 who are forced into prostitution by violent, manipulative, and abusive pimps. Directors Jane Wells and John-Keith Wasson follow the stories of two troubled teenage girls who are unaware of the dangerous situation they are in until they are beaten or raped by the pimps who demand they sell their bodies on the streets under their guidance and orders.

The filmmakers put on screen a few arrogant and brazen pimps who are used to earning a lot of money and of escaping convictions or prison terms. Many juries see sex trafficking as a victimless crime.

Tricked also offers a look at angry law enforcement agents and an educated, well-to-do john who is proud of his regular visits to young prostitutes. Nichols Kristof of The New York Times, who has written about the sexual exploitation of teenagers and women, also comments on the subject.
