Reality Bites
Directed by Ben Stiller
Universal Studios Home Video 02/94 DVD/VHS Feature Film
PG-13 - some language, drug contact, sensuality

This lively drama follows in the wake of Singles and Dazed and Confused as another portrait of the angst of the twenty-something crowd.

Winona Ryder stars in this romantic comedy as an unemployed college valedictorian who has made a documentary film about her friends — a roommate (Janeane Garofalo) who works at the Gap, a musician (Ethan Hawke) who looks down on everything, and a gay but celibate acquaintance (Steve Zahn). Ryder learns some hard lessons about work and love from a hotshot video executive (Ben Stiller).

The film's strongest suit is its wry awareness of the tremendous impact the media has had upon members of Generation X.
