REFLECTION
Which of the self-compassion experiences of Jesus especially relate to your life experience? [Seeking solitude after healing many townspeople who were sick; pausing to rest and sit by a well during an exhausting journey; receiving the care of others, such as when Mary anointed his feet with oil; being strengthened by his friendship with Mary, Martha, and Lazarus; enjoying social events like the wedding at Cana; allowing the feelings of grief when Lazarus died; protecting himself from harm by leaving places that rejected him; and asking for and receiving the support of the disciples in his time of trial.] If you were to write a letter to Jesus about self-compassion, what would that letter contain?

PRAYER
When my life becomes too crowded and I sorely need to pause and be renewed, remind me, Teacher of My Soul, how you rested and went apart from the pressures of your life. Grant me wisdom and courage to do the same.

SCRIPTURE TO CARRY IN YOUR HEART TODAY
“On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, ‘Let us go across to the other side.’ And leaving the crowd behind, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was” (Mk 4:35-36).
