This chapter book for pre-teens follows the adventures of Sharoo, a girl who lives on the planet Plash. She meditates each morning, prays to the One Behind Everything (O.B.E.), and has long been aware of her "Floater," Eedoo, whose speaks with her internally from time to time in the story, serving as her inner wisdom, intuition, and guardian angel.

Eedoo's voice starts coming in clearer than before, growing stronger the more Sharoo listens. He guides her through terrible encounters with a sadistic teacher and onward to an even bigger challenge: helping the country's king and queen strategize to beat back warriors invading their lands.

Author W.W. Rowe believably portrays how inner guidance works: how information can come through in partial glimpses, leaving us to figure out the rest; how sometimes we get quick responses to our requests for help and sometimes are met with a mysterious silence; how we receive encouragement and even practical ideas but the implementation is left up to us. A student of philosopher Paul Brunton, Rowe understands how to take time to listen deeply to wisdom from within.

When Sharoo needs to prepare for David-and-Goliath scale combat with a fierce giant, her bond with Eedoo gets fully tested. The book ends on a royal celebratory note, with Sharoo getting to be simply a pre-teen who likes to hang out with her friends and dance.

Written for readers ages eight to twelve — and full of humor as well as adventure — this book is the first in an Eedoo trilogy that's followed by two volumes for older readers. It received a Mom's Choice Gold Award honoring excellence, as did the entire series.
