Throughout our lives we experience many transitions — passages between one social role and another as well as passages between one stage in our inner growth and the next stage that seeks to emerge. Such passages catalyze and support our growth as human beings and as contributing members of the larger communities of which we are a part.

Being thrust into a life passage, or even inviting a passage, does not automatically mean that we will grow into the possibilities of a new stage. Successful transitions require that certain dynamics be recognized, honored, and supported. Rites of passage around the world have long been designed to support the unfolding of these dynamics in people encountering significant life change.

In this e-course, we will explore the dynamics of transition and the importance to our wellbeing of working with themes as they unfold in us. You will receive 12 emails that you can schedule at a pace that you choose. The emails include:

  • Focused discussions on topics like the dynamics of life transition, nature’s role in guiding us, shedding old skins, living in between, and recognizing and supporting our emerging new chapter;
  • Practices and rituals that support the movement through transition;
  • A recording of a one-hour teleconference with Ron Pevny held when this course originally ran in August 2017.

Your guide on this exploration will be Ron Pevny, Director of the Center for Conscious Eldering and author of Conscious Living, Conscious Aging. Some 40 years ago, Ron became one of the first guides of contemporary wilderness rites of passage and founded one of the first organizations dedicated to teaching the dynamics of transition. He is an active leader in Sage-ing International and played a key role in developing their introductory program, "Awakening the Sage Within." A strong networker in the conscious aging field, Ron has interviewed many of the leaders whose approaches are helping people grow and thrive during life’s later chapters.

We invite you to join us in "Navigating Life’s Transitions." Please be prepared to allow this course to touch both mind and heart, because the journey through transition requires you to bring your whole self to it.
