What if your life could be experienced like a poem: alive with meaning, attentive to nuance, and awake to the presence of the Holy in the small details?
In this e-course, Colette Lafia, spiritual director and author of Leaving the Shore: Experiencing Poetry as Prayer, invites us to listen to our lives through a poetic and contemplative lens, to notice what we often miss. Learning to deeply listen and be more fully present are ways we can become healing agents in the world.
During our time together, we will explore and experience the holiness woven into the ordinariness of our days: the poetry of love, the poetry of healing, the poetry of nature, and the poetry of connection and belonging. We will be guided by the poems and practices in Colette’s new book, along with the wisdom of other mystics and poets.
In this course, we will discover how praying with poetry invites us to:
- Recognize the sacred in the details of our everyday lives;
- Create spaciousness around our experiences, rather than rushing past them;
- Slow down and become more aware of Divine presence in what we notice and how we respond.
This 12-session e-course will consist of:
- 12 emails delivered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
- Guided Lectio Divina practices with poetry
- Gentle breath practices
- Guided journal and poetry writing prompts
- Facilitated online Practice Circle for shared reflection in community
- 1-hour Q&A Zoom gathering on July 1st at 5:00 pm PT/8:00 pm ET, inviting participants to share and celebrate any writing they generated in the course. It will be recorded for review or later listening if you can’t join it live.
Come and step into a space where poetry, prayer, and contemplation can help you listen more deeply to your life and to the sacred presence woven through it.
