Ed's Next Move is a quirky love story that is carried along nicely by a witty script and totally natural characters. When Ed's (Matt Ross) girlfriend in Wisconsin ditches him because he's inflexible, he surprises her and himself by moving to New York City.

This straight-arrow outsider finds a gregarious roommate, Ray (Kevin Carroll), who is a party animal. Ed also lands a job doing genetic research on new strains of rice. It's not a topic that comes up much in conversations with the opposite sex. Ed falls for Lee (Callie Thorne), a member of a folk singing group. She enjoys his down-to-earth honesty but is having a hard time pulling away from her old boyfriend.

Writer and director John Walsh has fashioned a pleasant love story that celebrates the quiet virtues of nice guys in an environment where everyone else is loud, brash, and aggressive.
