Queer Space is an ongoing affinity group for queer folks who want to connect with meaning, purpose, higher calling, spirit, and/or God in an environment that is radically open and affirming. We will engage with queer theology, books, movies, art, etc., and with that inspiration offer one another solidarity, encouragement, and community. The group will be gently facilitated by Reverend Julie Davis, who is trained to hold space that is interfaith, non-judgmental, curious, warm, and brave.
Because we want Queer Space to become a consistent community, joining requires a one-time payment of $10 as a sign of your interest and commitment.
The main activity of the community will be gathering monthly on Zoom for conversation, book and film discussions, and other activities. Members will also receive regular emails from Julie noting the agendas for the Zooms as well as other resources. Those who would like more engagement than the monthly Zoom will be able to meet in an online "Practice Group" to post in session threads coordinated with Julie's emails. We'll introduce ourselves and request support or prayers in another section of the Practice Group.
The first selection for Queer Space is Father Shannon TL Kearns’ memoir In the Margins: A Trans Man’s Journey with Scripture. The date of the Zoom will be December 7 at 6 pm PST / 9 pm EST. These meetings will not be recorded to maintain both privacy and immediacy within the group.
*We use queer as an inclusive shorthand for the entire LGBTQIA2s+ community.
