A death chant can act as a refuge from the storm, or an open window to the sun. Mantras or prayers cultivated in sincere spiritual practice work very well for many. Some recite scripture when danger approaches. Some whisper lullabies on their deathbed. Many, as did the vision questers, trust their heart to reveal the song. They listen closely and discover they knew it all along.
