Jealousy means wanting something for ourselves, unrelated to the person of whom we are jealous. We dream of becoming the object of love or pleasure that we imagine he or she enjoys; once this happens, the individual of whom we are jealous no longer interests us. Jealousy is centered on the self; the other is merely the intermediary for expressing how much we want something.
