The Angelus is a beautiful tradition. Throughout our long history, Christians were encouraged to remember the Incarnation three times a day (six o'clock in the morning, at noon, and six o'clock in the evening). Things are different now, of course. Few of us ever hear the Angelus bell anymore. If local ordinances haven't banned its ringing altogether, then the noise of planes, traffic, refrigerators, machinery, and stereos have all but drowned it out. Although most of us no longer pray the Angelus three times a day, perhaps we can find time to pray it at least once a day.
