According to Zen, the problem of fear is not in the situation itself, but in our reaction or response to the situation, in our manner of construing reality. Zen invites us to experience something different, something that radically changes the experience of fear. Fear can be overcome by transforming it. The solution is not to suppress fear. Instead, one must change the state into process.
