I appreciate God's subtlety; it shows panache, and leaves me a lot of space to make choices. It does mean, however, that the divine presence is never obvious. If you want to find it, you have to search. You need to become a prospector of the spirit; an explorer beyond the boundaries of the mundane.

What we have in life and the world is nothing more than hints of God. These are as ephemeral as wisps of blue smoke highlighted in a stray beam of sunlight. Always ambiguous, these delicate hints are something akin to the fragrance of God's presence. Once you have come to know the scent, your senses become keen to it and you are forever sampling the air to check for it.
