In addition to political oppression, we have economic, intellectual, religious, environmental, and gender oppression in the world. When we talk about peace, we cannot view indiscriminate killings and destruction of property in isolation from the poverty, illiteracy, religious intolerance, environmental threats and gender oppression faced by people who have been left out, who are unable to see their niche, who may have lost their sense of dignity and direction.
