On a dismal morning in an unlikely place, [I am given] a whole new concept of faith: as hanging-around-in-case, befriending the absurd, showing up, resisting the easy answer, refusing to believe that God is "the kind of joker that would want us to believe that the senseless makes sense." Confronting the abyss becomes easier when a presence might be lurking there. That's what incarnation is all about, isn't it?
