In the last sermon I preached there, I talked about the many firsts of becoming a pastor — how frightened and moved I had felt as I preached the first sermon, taught the first class, walked home through a mist of warm rain after my first time of being with someone dying. None of this came easy for me, but I wanted to spend the rest of my life like that — getting wet, learning to love, coming alive.
