Sometimes nature is the trigger for a deep awakening to your true nature which is the true nature of everything. Zen Master Ling-yun's awakening was triggered by peach blossoms. His experience is expressed in the verse:

The red of the rustic village is unknown
to the peach blossoms;
Yet, they instruct Ling-yun to arrive
at doubtlessness.

Although the peach blossom did not teach Ling-yun anything in words, their sheer beauty triggered in him a direct experience of his true nature, thereby erasing all doubts from his mind. For others the trigger was the sound of a pebble striking bamboo, a star, a bird song, or a mountain range.
