Whenever I sit by a river or swim in one, I feel like I have returned to some spiritual source, a strong, eternal presence in my life that is always the same, no matter how the waters swell or recede as the seasons come and go, and the rains and the melting snow flood the banks. A river always feels like a realm of the Eternal here on Earth, flowing, changing, yes, but somehow always the same, always there.
