To be clothed with Christ is to identify with him and imitate him. When through baptism people are clothed in Christ, the forces that segregate individuals and groups are opposed. This breaks down racial barriers between Jew and Greek, sexual inequality between man and woman, and class barriers between slaves and free persons. The Eucharist is a renewal of the baptismal commitment to imitate Jesus and break those barriers.
