The awareness of being lost is an indication of grace. It is the beginning of understanding, the disturbing dream that leads to consciousness. Thirst reminds you of your need for drink, "lostness" recalls your need for God. God is the Source and Sustainer of existence, the Rhythm that hums through life, the Lover of the world. Nobody is actually without God, or else they could not live. But many are distant and separated from God in their heats, and so they suffer the yearning of "lostness."
