By far the best way to conquer aggression is to think of others. At tax time, for example, if we remember that others are suffering the same panic, worry or irritation, it softens our agitation. When we're ill, thinking of others who are also sick dissolves our claustrophobia and fear. Thinking of others connects us with our noble heart. When we maintain this noble connection, we are patient with our own suffering. We're not derailed by negativity, because compassion has expanded our mind, and "me" looks smaller.
