Joy isn't happiness times three, or a really tall stack of fun. Joy makes little sense to onlookers in a culture where advertisers press you incessantly to want more, for already joy is already satisfied. Joy is undeterred by circumstance; joy is at peace, for joy knows we are cradled quite securely in God's loving arms. Joy is usually discovered in the middle of sorrow. Suffering is the archeologist that unearths the treasure of joy. Joy is the candle that flickers in the darkest night.
