The ultimate source of joy, I believe, is spiritual. Joy is awakened by and awakens the spirit. This is what makes it so special. The really wonderful thing about joy is that it is available to all. Joy is a spiritual experience that often results from doing something truly good or experiencing something good. It lifts a person out of his or her usual mundane, earthly experience and into the infinite, the eternal. Joy is the emotion of heavenly beings, it is probably as close to the experience of heaven as we will ever have while here on earth.
