Denominations, congregations, cults multiply in this hothouse of religious belonging. But all the fellowship, all the devotions, all the rituals, all the dogma have left us starving for something more fundamental — the experience of the spiritual journey itself. Too much of what we identify as religious has been the effect of socialization. We are starved for something that will help us unlock and tap the wisdom and spirituality that we sense lie deep within ourselves.
