This need for selfless worship by the devotee is also cited in the Bhagavad Gita where Sri Krishna says: "Whoever offers me a leaf, a flower, a fruit, or water with devotion, that I accept — the devout gift of the pure-minded." Because He sees the inner feeling of the devotee, God accepts the external objects which merely symbolize the fullness of the devotee's love. God sees the inner heart, and He appreciates the devotee's sincere gesture.
