The devotee establishes a human relationship with God. God is father or mother, master, friend, or even sweetheart, and the devotee is the child, servant, friend, or lover. These human relations, working on the spiritual plane, bring indescribable joy, sweetness, and strength to the devotee. Whatever action the devotee performs, he or she does not claim to be its agent. God is the doer, the prime mover in his or her life.
