As a popular religion [Taoism] is animistic and mystical, laying special emphasis on reaching ultimate harmony, balance, yin-yang equilibrium in one's life and in the universe. As a religious philosophy, a transcendent wisdom, Taoism draws from its wisdom books, which include the Tao te Ching (sayings of Lao-Tzu) and the I Ching (that tells one's fortune), as well as from the movement meditation, T'ai Chi; Taoism exists today as a pantheistic popular religion and a religious philosophy. Taoists speak of attaining immortality through eating certain foods, acquiring magical powers, and leading a balanced life.
