Marc Chagall (1887 - 1985) was born in Russia and lived in Paris most of his life. His paintings are rich in color and filled with fantastic imagery. Chagall started illustrating the Bible in 1931 and over the next 35 years created more than 100 etchings, lithographs, and paintings that expressed his love of the adventure and the freeing power of biblical stories.

This volume brings together many of Chagall's finest Bible paintings with the books of Genesis, Exodus, and The Song of Solomon. Among our favorites are The Creation of Man, Adam and Eve and the Forbidden Fruit, Noah Receives the Order to Build the Ark, The Dove of the Ark, Abraham and the Three Angels, The Sacrifice of Abraham, Jacob's Dream, and Moses Shows the Elders the Tablets of the Law. Chagall's imaginative art is a perfect match for these stories of faith, freedom, and Divine grace.
