“What does the term real world even mean anymore?
“We often find ourselves paying less-than-half attention. We might think we’re connected to others — through ‘cares’ and ‘likes’ and ‘loves’ represented by buttons on screens — but what if this is another way we are actually withdrawing? Actively and attentively returning to ourselves and others requires a pivot back into the real world. It demands time, focus, genuine presence, and authentic attention. Perhaps queering our attention means first taking our relationships with ourselves and others back off the screen and into the 3D world of presence, company, compassion, and touch.”
