Gurumayi Chidvilasananda is the spiritual successor to Swami Muktananda in the ancient yogic tradition of India. These poems celebrate the presence of God within the heart and in the world. Gurumayi proclaims that we are manifestations of God's secret wish. She would have us rise to the height of our history: "The zenith of your aspirations is as close as your breath and as infinite as the universe."

Time is on our side. She sees the light of our awareness as a "precious companion." The spiritual life is rooted in gratitude: "True love places you in the best seat in God's Kingdom." Wonders abound in nature and great treasures are to be found in all of our blessings. The proper response to all this is humility and a smile. Or as Gurumayi puts it: "The setting sun rejoices / when you put away all concerns / and become absorbed in God's splendor, / when you respect the sacred hour of praying / and let your heart sing his glory, / when you begin to count your blessings / and allow the sweetness of gratitude / to sound through your being." These poems are devotional gems that speak to the heart.
