The great Protestant reformer, Martin Luther said, "The shorter the prayer, the better." He must have had this compact resource edited by David Schiller in mind. It is very short but filled with prayers from all wisdom traditions. It also spans ancient to modern times. The editor has done a good job mixing this material up for a salutary spiritual resource.
Here are two examples from the book:
• "Lord, you are my lover,
My flowing stream,
And I am your reflection."
— Mechthild of Magdeburg
• "It is prayer that restores to us the ability to feel, to see, and to appreciate."
— Reuven Hammer
