Oliver is an oddball kid who spends most of his time with his friends — stuffed animals, puppets, and other toys. He is a master of solitude, able to tap into his imagination and create adventures in the desert where they ride camels, in the ocean fighting sharks, and visiting the other side of the world. Oliver feels uncomfortable when he has to do things on his own. Sometimes he just wishes he could fly away. Things seem especially bleak for him when he plays his piano for his toy friends and no one listens.

Birgitta Sif makes her debut as a children's book author and her book is worthy of praise. Her creative illustrations convey the wide open spaces in Oliver's solitude. But there is a hint that he has come to the point where he wants something more than his fantasy friends. With this intention hovering in his soul, a door is opened and a new relationship becomes possible. Oliver is designed for children ages 4 and up.
