In this plucky children's picture book, Elizabeth Laird features Beatrice as a little girl whose mother gives her a bunch of bananas to deliver to her grandfather. As she proceeds on her mission through the jungle, she runs up against a series of obstacles. A giraffe whisks the gift off of her head and then gives her a bouquet of flowers; a swarm of bees attack the flowers and leave some honey;, and some monkeys snatch the honey and hand her some mangoes instead. And so on. Throughout this unexpected adventure, Beatrice remains calm and collected.
Elizabeth Laird has written this delightful children's book, and Liz Pichon's illustrations capture the color and diversity of jungle life — plants and animals. Beautiful Bananas is aimed at children ages 4 through 8. The story salutes little Beatrice's inner peace in the face of obstacles.
