In this wordless story by David Michael Slater illustrated by Bob Kolar, a little boy comes into the library and grabs a book. He doesn't know what it says, so he just plays with the pages, tearing them and ripping them out in the process. He discards the book on the floor as he leaves.

The same thing happens when he comes back the next day. This makes the books very sad, so they try to hide from him. But everything changes when the boy takes the book and reads for the first time. This touching story reveals a side-effect of a love of reading: respect for and careful treatment of books.
