Hua-Ching Ni has written more than 50 books on the Integral Way or the Integral Tao. The techniques he offers come from his growth and attainment in a lifetime of work as a natural healer and doctor of Traditional Chinese medicine. His son, Dr. Maoshing Ni currently practices at the Tao of Wellness Clinic in Los Angeles, California. In this paperback, they share insights garnered from centuries of Taoist wisdom.

In the poetic prelude, the authors write:

"The Universal Way is the way of an honest life
and natural abundance.
Its teachings are plain
and do not partake in rivalry
with other teachings.
It transcends all things
in its universal journey.
Its natural spiritual teachings
supports the well-being all people."

At the core of this Universal Way is a high regard for the heart, the spiritual center of our lives. A well-balanced existence comes when heart takes precedence over mind. Of course, in the West it is just the other way around. The authors advise: "The mind is the minister whose duty is to fulfill the pure intentions of the heart." Sounds good to us.

Hua-Ching Ni and Dr. Maoshing Ni also write about finding spiritual growth through learning the Integral Way, the fulfillment of universal spiritual responsibility, and the actualization of spiritual truth in life. They interweave quotations from the Tao Teh Ching into these teachings. It is refreshing to see another spiritual path where heart is treated with the reverence it deserves.
