This book contains commentary, prayers, guided meditations, and rituals for the renewal of Jewish spirituality. The author, who was one of the first women ordained as a rabbi, serves Congregation Nahalat Shalom in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In the first section of this paperback, Gottlieb explains the theology of Shekinah, the female presence of God in Jewish tradition. She goes on to present spiritual role models for women in the Bible and in Jewish legend. A third section consists of ceremonies Gottlieb has created for major markers in women's lives. The final chapter targets communal energies for ecological action, peacemaking, and reconciliation between the sexes.
