This is the first interactive CD-ROM encyclopedia dedicated to the Tibetan people and culture. As Robert Thurman reminds us, until the Chinese invasion in 1950, this was the single place in the world where the individual's pursuit of enlightenment was cherished over the needs of the society. This helpful resource contains 2200 photographs and iconographic documents, technical notes, 90 minutes of commentary and 40 minutes of original music.

The six main menus are Himalayan Art, Religious Thought, Tibet, Note Pad, Chronological Table and Iconography. Also included are an extensive glossary covering Tibetan terms, deities, locations, practices, and more. There are also some extensive slide shows, including over 50 photos of Lsasa, the home of the Dalai Lama before he went into exile. The user friendly format works on both PC and MAC computers. A small booklet guides you through the content and the operation of the program. Highly recommended.
