Gehlek Rimpoche is founder and director of Jewel Heart, a worldwide Tibetan Buddhist organization and the author of Good Life, Good Death. Brenda Rosen is the editor of many books on spirituality and Buddhism as well as a longtime follower of the Tibetan tradition. Together they have created this wonderful resource that contains a 96-page book, a white Tara resin figure, and a keepsake box with die-cut portal that doubles as a meditation altar. They write of her:

"Like other Buddhist deities, Tara is a manifestation of the compassion and wisdom of the Buddha. She is considered the mother of all the Buddhas. You might say that Tara is the feminine principle of the Buddha. Her name is sometimes translated as 'star,' but it is usually explained as meaning 'she who saves.' Tara is loved and honored throughout the Buddhist world. In Tibet, she is known as Dolma. In China, she is called Kwan Yin. The Japanese tradition calls her Kannon."

The book explains in more detail who she is and discusses reaching out to her in meditation, healing the five elements of your body with her assistance, surrounding yourself with her protection, and working with her on the eight fears. Also reprinted is a popular Tibetan praise song to Tara. These rituals and practices can be done anywhere thanks to the mobility of the Tara Box.
