Julie Davis is the Editorial and Program Director for Spirituality & Practice, and the Lead Pastor of The Table: a Community for Spiritual Refugees. Julie first joined our team as a Fellow with The Practicing Democracy Project, a collaboration of The Center for Spirituality & Practice and the Fetzer Institute. She holds an MDiv in Interfaith Chaplaincy from Claremont School of Theology, and is an ordained minister in the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. Julie also holds an MA from Brown University, a degree incidental to her pursuit of a PhD in English; Julie interrupted her dissertation writing to teach high school English in Los Angeles, where she fell in love with her students and out of love with her dissertation. In all, Julie taught English for 17 years before her calling transformed from academic to spiritual. Julie works as an antiracism trainer for her denomination and is passionate about movements for social justice, particularly around the intersections of religion and issues of race, gender, and sexuality.
