Now and Then features Melanie Griffith, Demi Moore, Rosie O'Donnell, and Rita Wilson as four friends who gather to fulfill their childhood promise to come together any time one of them needs the others.

They recall the magical summer of 1970 in Shelby, Indiana, when they were 12 years old. Samantha (Gaby Hoffmann), the philosopher of the group, leads them into an adventure to find out more about a youngster who died in the 1940s. Teeny (Thora Birch) is obsessed with boys and movies. Roberta (Christina Ricci), a rebel, is still grieving over the death of her mother in an automobile crash. Chrissy (Ashleigh Aston Moore) struggles to keep up with her friends.

Now and Then, written by I. Marlene King and directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, is a delightful movie about four girls trying to come to terms with death, loyalty, and independence. Their reunion in the 1990s enables them to put the past in perspective and to reconfirm their need for each other.
