Waiting is a sassy and socially trenchant Australian film directed by Jackie McKimmie. Clare (Noni Hazlehurst) is an artist who has just won an art fellowship to Paris. However, her latest creation is in her womb. She's decided to have a baby for her friend Sandy (Helen Jones) who can't conceive one of her own. Feminist filmmaker Therese (Fiona Press) arrives to film the birth as part of a documentary. Also on hand is Diane (Deborra-Lee Furness), a fast-track magazine editor. The women in Waiting are an oddly appealing bunch given their incredibly ambivalent feelings about sex, motherhood, careers, friendship, and men. Quirky from start to finish, this Australian film will win your attention early on and never let it wane.
