Rachel Carson has written, "If a child is to keep alive an inborn sense of wonder, he needs the company of at least one adult who can share it, and rediscover the joy and the mystery of the world we live in." This IMAX 3D adventure directed by Australian Paul Cox is a celebration of the marvels which lie behind and beneath the world we call familiar.

Thirteen-year-old Elly (Charlotte Sullivan) accompanies her parents on a vacation to her grandfather's quaint and isolated house on a lake. Although he's away on a trip to Mongolia, he has left behind a series of keys which will enable Elly to feast on the wonders in a drop of water, the wings of a moth, a bee, and grains of salt and pepper. She sees even more fascinating views of the natural world through a magical "Illuminator" which her grandfather has constructed. The message of this edifying movie is that we all must use our eyes and our curiosity to honor the mysteries of nature. To see the world up close through IMAX is to revel in a realm of interconnections, deep complexity, and strange beauty.
