Dance is an elegant form of movement, characterized by great freedom and spontaneity. As we are moved along by the rhythm and tempo of the music, we experience a sense of being danced rather than we ourselves performing the dance. Yet, dance is a highly organized activity governed by set postures, specific movements, and standard combinations.

The structure is important to get the dance into its rhythm. Once the inner movement takes over, the external structure becomes less important. And often the "external" movements become natural and spontaneous. The inner and outer blend into one.
