Contemporary science has its own version of resurrection and reincarnation, known as "autopoiesis." . . . The concept was introduced by the Chilean biologist Humberto Maturana in the early 1970s. Autopoiesis refers to the ability of living systems to renew themselves continuously and to regulate this process in such a way that the integrity of their structure is maintained and continuously enhanced.
