The word "practice" covers everything that Buddhists do in their efforts to achieve clear understanding and benefit other beings: Sitting in meditation, whether in a hall or at home. Chanting with a group. Walking, eating, doing household chores. Communicating with one's office-mates. Helping a blind person onto the bus. Each of these activities becomes "practice" if one is making the effort to be fully aware, in the moment, of one's motivations and actions and their appropriateness to the situation.
