In the Hispanic tradition we believe that each saint was human once and learned something very profound in his or her walk upon this earth. For this reason, each saint has a special gift for us. For example, we can petition St. Anthony when we want to recover something we have lost. This could be anything from a favorite earring to losing one's soul. I often ask people to bring a St. Anthony candle when I am doing soul-retrieval work with them. St. Martin de Caballero is petitioned when someone needs to find work, or needs help with his or her business.
