If you do not practice daily, you may not be able to maintain enthusiasm for practice, and without periods of extended practice, it is impossible to experience even a brief period of true peace. Daily practice is useful for two reasons: it maintains your interest in and enthusiasm for practice, and it reminds you that you are a practitioner. This constant reminder helps you to realize how inappropriate and foolish it is to be vexed by life's ups and downs. However, a deeper sense of peace can only be experienced through intensive practice over an extended period of time.
