The Creed calls us to be a catholic church — a congregation of believers who embrace the world and everyone who walks it. The church that despises women, rejects homosexuals, demeans believers who hear the voice of God in another key or organizes itself into a sanctuary for the sophisticated of the world is sectarian, not Christian; Catholic, not catholic. Churches like that are clubs, not Christian assemblies of those who believe in the person, the proclamations of Christ.
