[Hinduism's] rituals are complex, but its essence is simple. It embraces the one and the many: a transcendent Absolute God and innumerable Gods and Goddesses. Hinduism is a religion of ultimate individuality and personal choice. Both good and evil are believed to be of God, and the purpose of most rituals is to maintain a balance between such opposites: creation and destruction, light and dark, masculine and feminine.
